Looking for a fun, FREE and eco-friendly way to spend Saturday with the kids? Head to the Fingerling Festival in Port Moody. The weather is meant to fantastic, the kids can bop outside to kiddie superstars Bobs & Lolo AND help release thousands of young salmon into Noons Creek. Talk about a win-win!
Presented by the Port Moody Ecological Society, the Fingerling Festival attracts almost 5,000 people annually to help release close to 40,000 young chum salmon into Noons Creek to help these fish begin their four-year journey to sea. This fun, free environmental festival at the Noons Creek Hatchery in Port Moody is the largest of its kind. Visitors can also visit the hatchery with its fish-rearing pond and restored wetland.
Bobs and Lolo Performances and Salmon Run App
Another big draw for the little people is Bobs & LoLo, who will perform a bunch of toe-tapping tunes at 11:30am and 1:00pm, including their popular song Run Salmon Run, which has just become an app. Think curriculum-based factoids from the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans primary level educational programs as well as vibrant visuals, dynamic and musical storytelling and interactive elements.
