Hee haw! It’s time for SuperDogs, blue-ribbon farm animals, mini donuts and ooey gooey ribs because the PNE Fair opens tomorrow. And of course Vancouver’s answer to Disneyland, Playland has been going strong all summer so if you haven’t, now is also the time to take a gentle ride on the Ferris Wheel or go nuts on The Beast! But please, just wait until after your ride for that giant hot dog!

Learn to Fish
Slow things down a bit and cast a line in Sanctuary Pond. Learn the basics of fishing including: hatchery roles, local conservation concerns, fishing equipment, casting, and how to rig your rod. Youth under 16 and participants 16 and older with a valid freshwater fishing licence can also try their luck fishing off the dock on Sanctuary Pond.
Yikes! This new outdoor imaginative immersive experience features 19 giant animatronic models along with over 110 static creatures. Learn about how these insects live and travel, experience their movement, appearances and behaviours, and understand their role in the environment. NB: This new Xtreme exhibit is not recommended for anyone suffering from Entomophobia!
Safeway Kidz Discovery Farm
City kids can ‘become a farmer’ for a short time while learning how their food gets from the farm to your local grocery store. Kids are put to work at various pretend play farm chores such as milking a cow, pedaling a tractor, collecting eggs and harvesting apples while moving from farm to farm.
Art in the Park
Help paint a giant 20′ long mural! Play at being Picasso with your kids while helping to create a Fair masterpiece. Then, check out over 50+ murals on display that have been coloured by local schools and community organizations.
It’s time to laugh out loud and stretch a smile from ear to ear in ToonCity! Play, dance and paint in The Fair’s family pit-stop.
How to get Tickets
Tickets to The Fair at the PNE are $14 for entry ($6.50 for seniors, free for kids 13 & under) when you purchase tickets online. You can also add a fair ride pass for $40+. But, there are several promo days and way to save on tickets. Including free admission for all guests on August 22 & 29 from 11am – 1pm.
The Fair at the PNE opens on Saturday, August 19, 2017 and runs until Monday, September 4, 2017 from 11am – Late every day (except Mondays).
