The warm weather has arrived, and it’s high time for a spring family outing. It may be a little shower heavy, but that hasn’t stopped the blossoms. The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is in full swing, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival opens on Monday (April 10th) and the Burnaby Central Train opens Good Friday!

Sakura Days Japan Fair: The cherry blossoms are finally out, and the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival was able to settle on a date for it’s annual spring family blossom affair at Van Dusen Gardens, and it takes place this weekend! Experience the special ritual of the Japanese tea ceremony, culinary demonstrations, enjoy Japanese festival food, sample premium sake, take a guided Tree Talks and Walks to the cherry trees, and listen to haiku readings. Plus there are hands-on workshops, Japanese arts and crafts demonstrations. Oh and don’t miss the Lantern Parade at 6:30pm.
The Burnaby Central Railway: The Stanley Park train isn’t the only mini choo choo in town! Kids, families and retired engineers flock to for their train fix, and it opens on Good Friday! If you’ve got train-crazy kids, this is family outing your must take. It’s a charming ride through the trees for all ages. As an added bonus, the revamped Confederation Playground and park is right across the street. Plus it’s only $3.50 / ride.
Abbotford Tulip Festival: Hop in the car with the kids for a perfect spring family outing. Make sure you have your camera for the Lower Mainland’s most picturesque display of tulips. Picture 10 acres of tulips blooming in a brilliant rainbow of colour. With over 35 varieties on display, this is the place to get your spring family photo. PSA: Organizers anticipate a later start to blossoms that the scheduled April 10th opening date.
