For too long, UBC has been run by adults. It’s time for kids to rule at this fun-filled arts festival for kids and families.
Celebrate Family Day weekend by bringing your entire family to UBC on Sunday, February 11. Kids and youth will take on adult-sized roles, working alongside staff and volunteers to participate and promote arts and culture at UBC. Takeover Day, first launched in the UK, is a celebration of children and young people’s contributions to museums, galleries, arts organizations, archives and heritage sites.
Program
- Old Auditorium: Meet Cinderella and Friends for a taste of Opera, stage tours, costumes, and make-up (11am-12pm)
- Museum of Anthropology: Takeover Day with youth-led arts, dance, tours, featuring the Zhambai Trio musicians! (12-5pm)
- Frederic Wood Theatre: Th’owxiya: The Hungry Feast Dish by Joseph A. Dandurand (1-2:15pm)
- Belkin Art Gallery: Poem power — for mighty kids who want to change the world! (1-3pm)
Kid-friendly food trucks, photobooths, Thunderbird marching band, crafts, prizes and more!
Tickets
There are two types of tickets available: family and individual passes. Each family pass comes with 2 adult and 2 kids (under 12) all access passes and a $10 food voucher. Tickets are limited so purchase yours now and RSVP on Facebook.
