For live performing arts that push the boundaries of genre and originality, the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival brightens each Vancouver winter, running from January 18 to February 6 this year.

Dances for a Small Stage is one of the festival events, returning to The Legion on the Drive from January 26 to 28, 2011. The new works are presented on Dances for a Small Stage’s signature 10-by-13-foot stage, incorporating traditional ballet, contact improvisation, character-driven contemporary dance, and more.

The cabaret-themed contemporary performances include local and visiting artistic talent Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Billy Marchenski, Delia Brett, Kim Tuson, and Susie Burpee, as well as Vancouver Company Out Innerspace, and are hosted and curated by Cheyenne Friedenberg, Marchenski, and MovEnt’s Artistic Producer Julie-anne Saroyan.

Doors open at 7pm, with performances beginning at 8pm. Tickets are $20 and available exclusively at the door on the night of the show. Audience members must be 19 and over. For more information on Dances for a Small Stage, see MoveEnt’s website.
