Best Places to Take Your Child to See Santa in Vancouver

Editor’s note: We’ve got a new updated Santa photo list for 2015!

We’re looking for you Santa photos on our Facebook page! We’d especially like to see the “scary” Santa ones where the kids are screaming or Santa’s beard is askew. Feel free to post ones from your own childhood too.

I asked VancouverMom.ca’s readers where the best places are to take your child to see Santa. Here’s what they said:

Seems that Santa Loves Cloverdale

Our readers love bringing their kids to see Santa at Potters on 192. Penny says that Santa spends quality time with the kids. She adds: “You don’t have to wait in a line up. You can browse the awesome displays while you wait for your number to be called!” Stephanie agrees: “I noticed very small lineups to see the big guy! And a nice treat to roam around a really neat store.”

Cecilia lets us in on another Cloverdale secret: the white mini house in the IGA mall parking lot at 10hwy and 177B. “Bring your own camera. It’s free (or by donation).”

Santa Outdoors

A few readers recommended visiting Santa at Bright Nights at Stanley Park. “We like the fact that the money for the photo with Santa goes towards a great cause,” says Tami. Pamela agrees: “We went on the train ride and just after we got off, there was a little house with Santa in it. Very nicely set up and there was no line up.”

“Vandusen Gardens was great!” says Sonja of the Festival of Lights. “So magical.” She also told us that kids under six get in free.

Kirsten recommended Burnaby Village Museum, where kids can experience Christmas turn-of-the-century style.

Mall Sightings

Of course, Santa does love malls – and it seems our readers do too!

Sara recommended Valley Fair Mall in Maple Ridge: “Santa has an uncanny sense of knowing what the kids names are, pets, sports, what they want for Christmas, etc. My Santa pictures always turn out amazingly!”

Stephanie told us to go to Brentwood Mall at suppertime – or just before. “No line ups!”

Park Royal North side,” says Amanda. “He is so nice and his beard is real. Both of my kids were totally comfortable.”

Michelle just took her one-year-old to Capilano Mall in North Vancouver: “The staff were very nice and easy to work with and we had no line up. Thumbs up.”

Karen has taken her kids, ages 10 and 5, to Willowbrook Mall in Langley every year. “Every year he has taken the time to open up my daughter’s letters to him and read them right then and there. The girls were so excited and they also received a letter back in the mail.”

Please post your Santa photos on our Facebook page!
