Myshsael Schlyecher is a local freelance photographer, wife and mother of three beautiful daughters. For 10 years, she has been shooting mostly portraits and families.

Why did you get into photography?

Well I have always been creative and can see things in a different way. The medium I have chosen is photography for many reasons. From the shapes and dimensions, to the depth and the emotion , colour and B&W. I love light most of all and how it can play on things to make them truly exquisite. The possiblities are endless. Upon the birth of my first daughter, 16 years ago I was given my first camera.

Tell us a bit about your company.

Not many people get to say they love what they do for a living. I actually do and I’ve been told it shows. In 16 years, after many courses and lessons along the way, I have built a successful portrait business.

How would you characterize your style of photography?

My style of portraiture is beautiful, natural, timeless, and captures the essence of who I am photographing.

Who are your clients?

I have a great eclectic mix of clients from actors, musicians, pregnancy, nudes, to fun families on the beach , to yoga clients half in the water, ballet dancers, companies and corporate portraits, and all the way to weddings. The one common thread is it’s always unique wonderful people. All of whom are coming to me because I give them beautiful photos that depict who they really are.

What should your mom clients expect when working with you?

A shoot with me is very relaxed , creative and fun for both parties. The end result being that we both love the photographs taken. Many times I have been told that I make my clients feel at ease during the photo shoots. For family photography I set up quarterly sessions pre-booked at set locations around Vancouver. We have an abundance of natural beauty here and families in these settings are wonderful. These sessions book very quickly. Call me if you are interested in one of these bookings.
