Best of Vancouver Newborn Photographers: The First Two Finalists

At the beginning of February we asked you to submit your nominations for the best of Vancouver newborn photographers. Newborn babies are magical, and those first photos of them are so precious. You want to make sure you’re trusting the right person to capture the perfect shot. Our judges reviewed all of your nominations, and narrowed it down to the top 10. We’ll be profiling them here, and then we’ll be asking you to vote on the very best. Without further ado, here are the first two finalists, which are presented in no particular order.

Kathryn Langsford creates classic, timeless, and elegant portrait-style black and white photography that reveals personality and authenticity. She views portraiture as the art of character expression, a true reflection of natural charisma. She aims to capture the many sides of her subject’s personality – either on location or in her Vancouver studio. Shooting her subjects in a friendly, relaxed manner, Kathryn’s focus is on the comfort and enjoyment of those she photographs. Years of working with and photographing people, and a keen and artful eye has honed her ability to create beautifully unique, artistic portraits.

Of all the types of portraits Kathryn is asked to create, newborn photography has always been a favourite. She says, “A newborn’s fleeting, ethereal beauty only exists for a few short weeks and it is an honour to be a part of that time in my client’s lives.” A self-taught artist and entrepreneur, Kathryn is sought after by the most well known of Vancouver families – as well as many international ones who make the trip to have their family captured annually.

Haley Lorraine Photography

Haley Lorraine is a natural light portrait photographer specializing in maternity, newborn, child and family photography. For the past three years she has been photographing many families across Metro Vancouver. She gets really excited when she sees beautiful light or that special moment between people. She especially loves photographing couples and families as they welcome a new baby into their lives. As a mother of three young children herself, she truly knows the importance of capturing those precious moments of your child’s life.

A newborn session with Haley takes place in the comfort of your home incorporating many personal elements to create images that are modern, relaxed and full of natural connections. In her work she strives to create beautiful images that will be treasured for years to come. Her style is unique and blends a mix of lifestyle images with modern posed newborn photography to provide her clients with a nice variety of images.
